Calvin Church, 326 7 th St SE, welcomes all who are looking for a church family to worship, learn and
fellowship with us. Sunday School classes for all ages begin at 9:00 AM. Worship begins at 10:00 AM
celebrating the First Week of Advent lighting the candle of hope. As we light this candle, may our hearts
ignite with the flame of hope, illuminating our path through this Advent season. Songs of Hope include:
“Angels We Have Heard on High”, “He Came Down That We Might Have Hope,” “My Soul Cries Out”,
and “Song of Hope”.
Pastor Brian Hofman’s text for this Sunday is Isaiah 11: 1-16; “a shoot will come up rom the stump of
Jesse.” During the offertory, Lyn Bulthuis will lead us in singing “Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming”.
After the offertory, the children meet with Pastor Brian for an interesting Children’s Sermon. Then they
are dismissed to Children’s Worship led by Kaitlyn Visscher.
This week Calvin has the pleasure of leading worship services at the Pride Group (9:30), Brentwood
(10:00), and Park Place Estates (10:30).
Calvin welcomes LifeWise Academy to our facilities. On Wednesday the Kluckhohn 5 th graders are bused
over and on Thursday the Franklin 5 th graders walk to the church.
The Afternoon Bible Study meets at 1:30 on Wednesday with the Lesson 6 “Angels and Guidance” led by
Lyn Bulthuis. Join us in discussing “How do we know if this is God’s will?” Discussion is followed by
prayer and dessert served by June Vos.

Miriam Hector will provide the prelude. The All For Him praise team will lead the singing of “Blessed Be
Your Name”, “Your Grace is Enough,” “That’s Why We Praise Him”, “Mighty to Save”, and “To God Be
the Glory”. Those faithful members of the praise team are guitarists: Bob Hughes, Ron De Kok, and Jim
Viet. Percussionist: Dave Hector; Vocalists: Lyn Bulthuis, Mary Fedders, Steve Ver Mulm, and Patrick
Visscher, Keyboard: Miriam Hector.
Pastor Brian Hofman’s text for this Sunday is Isaiah 10: 5 -34.
After the offertory, the children meet with Pastor Brian for an interesting Children’s Sermon. Then they
are dismissed to Children’s Worship led by Tessa Hofman.
91 Operation Christmas Child boxes were delivered to Sioux Center. They were received with great
appreciation and covered with prayer. Thank you to everyone for participating and those who helped
with the tasks to do this mission project.

Thanksgiving.
Calvin is planning a Thanksgiving banquet. We will come together to share our thankfulness on Sunday,

has done.

Sunday, November 20th, Calvin CRC welcomes all to a time that has been set aside for the public
worship of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Worship begins at 10 AM at 326 7t St SE, Le Mars.
Before worship, all are invited to study God’s Word at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Classes for all
ages is provided.
This Sunday Calvin celebrates communion. As we prepare to celebrate communion, we ask God for the
proper spirit in which to celebrate the sacrament.
As is tradition, on communion Sundays we urge our members to contribute to the Christian Needs
Ministry. The November Needs include canned vegetables; canned fruit; hamburger/tuna helper;
peanut butter; rice; pasta sauce; toilet paper; shampoo; cleaning products. Place items in the blue
barrel in narthex.
Pastor Brian Hofman concludes his series of sermons on Ecclesiastes. This Sunday his text is from
Ecclesiastes 12: 9-14. The songs of praise will be: “God of the Ages”, “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”,
“Ancient Words”, and “Behold the Lamb.” Miriam Hector will provide the prelude and the
accompaniment of hymns on piano and organ.
This Sunday is a Special Offering for Youth For Christ.
Our Annual Thanksgiving supper is Sunday, November 26, at 5:00 PM. Ham, turkey, and potatoes
have been donated. We ask everyone to bring a dish to share. “Four for Him” a men’s quartet will
entertain us after the meal.
A Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 6:30 November 23 rd . The service will include testimonies in
which people look back at the year past and publicly recount God’s grace and deeds, give thanks for
answered prayers, and acknowledge God’s guidance and leadership as we continue living our lives for
Christ.

simple shoebox gifts. One box can touch not only just the child, but their whole family.

Calvin Church, 326 7 th St SE, welcomes all who are looking for a church family to worship, learn and
fellowship with us. Sunday School is offered for all ages. The Adult S.S. class is using Tony Evan’s Study
called “Kingdom Authority.” Worship begins at 10:00 AM. Pastor Brian Hofman will lead us in
worship. The All For Him praise team will provide the prelude and lead the singing of: “10,000
Reasons”, “Give Me Jesus”, “Hear the Call of the Kingdom”,” Jesus, Draw Me Nearer”, “Behold the
Lamb”, and “Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow”.
Pastor Hofman has begun a series of sermons on Isaiah 7 & 8. This Sunday’s text is Isaiah 8: 1 – 10.
This Sunday Calvin will be celebrating communion. Our tradition of collecting food items for The Table
will continue. They need personal supplies, canned fruit, dish soap and cleaning supplies. Place items in
the blue barrel in the narthex.
Pastor Brian welcomes the children up front for an interesting look into the message so it’s on the
children’s level. Then the children are dismissed with Tessa Hofman to Children’s Worship in the
Fellowship Hall.
A Special Offering will be taken for Josh’s Ride.
The Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child boxes are ready to be filled. If you would like to join us
packing a box to show God’s love to a child around the world, you may pick up boxes from the church.
They will need to be returned by November 12 th .

with special needs can receive a custom-built tricycle/bicycle.

Patrick Visscher, Mary Fedders, and Lyn Bulthuis. This faithful group prepares the music and joyously
leads us in praising our God through songs, hymns and spiritual songs.
This Sunday we observe Disability Awareness Sunday. Our church has filled out a survey on how we
accommodate those with disabilities. Lyn Bulthuis will report on our findings on Sunday.
Wednesday, October 11 th , the Evening Women’s Bible Study meets at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.

the B.J. Haan Auditorium at Dordt University in Sioux Center at 7 PM. The groups performing are Four
for Him, the Klaasens, and Ensemble Royale. There will be a featured six-handed piano arrangement
performed by Trio BDT. A free-will offering will be taken for BLI. This year BLI is celebrating its 85 th
anniversary. Every $5.00 raised will cover the cost of putting a Bible written in a language that they will
understand.
Calvin will be leading services on Wednesday, October 4 at Prime Living – 9:30 AM and at Accura 10.00
AM.
