Calvin Christian Reformed Church celebrates communion this Sunday, October 17 at 10:00 AM. We ask God for the proper spirit to celebrate the sacrament that we may repent sincerely of all sin and that by it we shall be spiritually revived and strengthened in faith, hope and love through Christ our Lord. Worship begins with Mandy Viet providing a prelude and accompanying the hymns. They will be: “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, Lead Me, Guide Me”, and “Holy Spirit, Living Breath of God”. The message Pastor Brian Hofman is preaching is based on Malachi 2: 10 – 16. Communion is distributed during the singing of “Just As I Am”. We close our service with “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing”. Immediately following the service, there will be a congregational meeting to affirm the candidates of elder and deacon for council.
The Special Offering this week is for World Renew. As is tradition, Calvin collects items for the Christian Needs Center on communion Sundays. Their needs include: peanut butter, mac & cheese, hamburger/tuna helper, pancake mix/syrup, pasta sauce, spaghetti noodles, canned vegetables (any kind except corn), canned fruit, boxed potatoes, soup, toilet paper, and shampoo.
Calvin invites all to form a team for Youth for Christ Bowl-a-thon this Sunday, 2:30 – 5:00 PM at Sweet 16 Lanes, Le Mars. Talk to Elaine Van Otterloo or Pete Attema to donate to this fundraiser.
At 9:00 AM, Sunday, there are Education Classes for all ages.
This Wednesday, 1:30 PM is women’s Bible Study in the Fellowship Hall. They are studying the lesson on “Confession”, Lesson 16 led by Lyn Bulthuis. Coffee and dessert are served.
