This Week at Calvin 12-8-21

Calvin Church, 326 7th St SE, welcomes all who are looking for a church family to worship, learn and fellowship with us. Worship begins at 10:00 AM with the Third Sunday of Advent. The lighting of the Advent Candles centers around the passage: “For Unto Us A Child is Born”. The third candle is “Everlasting Father”. For Advent Pastor Brian Hofman has chosen the Psalms of lament, songs and prayers that cry out for God to take action and help but also surprisingly express trust in God while waiting. This week’s text is Psalm 80. The All For Him praise team will lead the singing of: “You Are Holy (Prince of Peace)”, “What a Beautiful Name”, Psalm 80 sung “O Shepherd Here and Lead Your Flock”, “Shine on Us”, and “Silent Night”.
At 9:00 AM, Sunday, there are Education Classes for all ages. Each class is picking out gifts for children of other countries through World Renew.
Next week Wednesday, December 15th at 1:30 PM, the Afternoon Ladies are meeting in the church basement and will be packing bags of goodies for all the children in church to be given away on Christmas Eve.
A Christmas caroling party will be the evening of December 19th. We are meeting at church at 3 pm for those that want to carol. We are hoping to be able to carol at the nursing homes by then. Then head back to church at 5:30 for tavern, chips, ice cream sundaes and hot chocolate, coffee or lemonade.
Calvin is planning a Christmas Eve Candlelighting Service at 5:00 P.M. Mark your calendars to join us with your family that are home. Hear the Christmas story and sing the carols.
Services may be seen on YouTube, on our website at Calvincrclemars.org, or by listening to a CD.
