This Week at Calvin 12/20/2023

On Christmas Eve Morning, Calvin Church, 326 7 th St SE, welcomes all to The Unexpected Gift. Sunday
School classes for all ages begin at 9:00 AM. Worship begins at 10:00 AM celebrating the Fourth Week
of Advent with the Patrick and Kaitlyn Visscher family lighting the candle of joy. This flame represents
the radiant joy that fills our hearts as we anticipate the birth of Jesus. Just as this small light can fill a
dark room, may the joy of Christ illumine our lives and bring hope to those around us. Children will show
us this joy as Ava and Ella Klemme play the prelude on their flute and piano. The All For Him praise team
will lead the singing of songs of Joy which include: “O Come All Ye Faithful” with Patrick on the trumpet,
“The Birthday of a King,” “What Child is This?” With Ava on flute, “Hope Was Born This Night”, and
concluding with the joyous “Hallelujah Chorus”. The children will fill our hearts with joy as they sing
“God is So Good/God Sent His Son/Jesus is Born” and “Away in a Manger.” Many readers will help us
hear the Christmas story anew and encounter a God who continues to surprise each of us.
Pastor Brian Hofman’s message will center on John 1: 1-5, 10-14, 16-18.
A Lifewise Christmas Tree is in the foyer. On it are items you can purchase to support LifeWise. Calvin
welcomes LifeWise Academy to our facilities.
The church office is open every morning from 10 to noon. If you have any prayer requests and
concerns you like included in the bulletin, please direct them to our church secretary at 712-546-4767.
