This Week at Calvin 12/20/2022

Merry Christmas from Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 326 7th St SE. On Christmas Day at 10:00 AM
we worship our newborn King. We also light the Christ candle, the center white candle of the Advent
Wreath. Jesus is the light of the world. Calvin welcomes all those looking for a church home to visit and
join us in worship of our prophesied Christ.
Christmas Eve will be celebrated at 5:00 PM with a dramatic Christmas service written to help children
understand how the whole narrative of Scripture points to Christ. Children and adults will act out the
nativity. Christmas carols are interspersed through out the drama. Ava Klemme will play her flute to
accompany some of the carols. It all concludes with the candles being lit from the Christ candle lighting
all participants’ candles as they gather around the sanctuary to the singing of Silent Night.
Christmas morning includes more Christmas Carols including “Good Christian Friends”, “O Come All Ye
Faithful”, “How Great Our Joy”, and “Go Tell It on the Mountain”. During the offertory, Karin, Kari, and
Trina Swanson will sing and play “O Holy Night.”
Sunday School classes will take a break for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s.
The Wednesday Evening Women’s Bible Study will be starting a new DV series in January, the 2nd and
4th weeks, at 6:30 PM. They will be studying “Twelve More Women of the Bible”. If you are interested in
studying with us, please contact Laura Grigsby at 712-541-7145 so she can order a study guide for you.
