This Week at Calvin 4/12/23

Calvin Church, 326 7th St SE, welcomes all who are looking for a church family to worship, learn and
fellowship with us. We offer Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:00 AM. Come and join us.
Worship begins in the sanctuary at 10:00 AM. Pastor Brian Hofman’s text this Sunday is in the Book
of Romans. Romans 5: 1-11, Peace and Joy. The All For Him praise team will lead the singing of “Come,
People of the Risen King”, “Glorious Day”, “Lord I Lift Your Name on High”, and “celebrate Communion
together. All who are truly sorry for their sins, and believe that the Lord Jesus is their Savior, are invited
to the table of our Lord. The Praise Team will lead the singing of ”Wonderful Merciful Savior” as the
congregation comes forward to partake in this Holy Supper.
After the offertory, the children come forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for
Children’s Worship.
As is tradition at Calvin on communion days we encourage the congregation to contribute to the
Christian Needs Center. Their needs this month include: peanut butter, hamburger/tuna helper, corn,,
canned fruit, instant potatoes, soup, juice, toilet paper; shampoo, and toothpaste. These items are to
be placed in the blue barrel in the narthex. Thank you.
April 29th is our Women’s Ministries “Our Favorite Things” Party beginning at 10 AM. Bring 3 of the same
items worth around $10 each to the Party to be exchanged.

This Week at Calvin 4/4/23

Calvin Church, 326 7 th St SE, welcomes all who are looking for a church family to worship, learn and
fellowship with us. This is Good Friday, at 7:00 PM Calvin will observe the crucifixion that Jesus endured
for our sins. Pastor Brian will read scripture about Christ’s suffering and death on the cross. Inez
Hoogeveen will accompany the hymns. People will have time to write on a note card of their thanks for
Christ’s atonement and place them on the cross in front of the sanctuary.
Easter morning begins with a Breakfast at 9:00 am. In the Fellowship Hall. Egg bake, cinnamon rolls,
muffins, coffee cake, orange juice and coffee will be served.
Worship begins in the sanctuary at 10:00 AM. Pastor Brian Hofman’s text this Sunday is Matthew
28: 1 – 10, The Resurrection Story. Mandy Viet will provide service music with a prelude, and
accompaniment for the hymns. These Resurrection hymns include: “See, What a Morning!”, “Christ the
Lord is Risen Today”, “Low in the Grave He Lay”, and “He is Lord.”
After the offertory, the children come forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for
Children’s Worship.
Summer Service trips with World Renew DRS are ways to serve with congregations and youth group this
summer. Join World Renew DRS to repair homes after natural disasters all across the US and Canada!
There are sites available in Washington, Kentucky, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and more! Contact

fellowship with us. This is Palm Sunday! Children and adults will process waving palms saying “Hosanna,
Hosanna in the highest. The All For Him praise band will be singing “Hosanna (Praise is Rising)”,”
Hosanna, Loud Hosanna”, “All Hail King Jesus”, “Beautiful One”, “I Stand Amazed”. Worship begins at
10:00 AM. Pastor Brian Hofman’s text this Sunday is Matthew 26: 6-13.
After the offertory, the children come forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for
Children’s Worship.
Sunday School classes for all ages are available this Sunday at 9:00 am.
A Good Friday service is at 7:00 PM with scripture and lots of hymns. Inez Hoogeveen will providing
service music.
Easter morning begins 9:00 am. They are serving egg bakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake,

This Week at Calvin 3/22/23

Sunday, March 26th, Calvin CRC welcomes all to a time that has been set aside for the public worship of
God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Worship begins at 10 AM at 326 7th St SE, Le Mars. Before
worship, all are invited to study God’s Word at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Classes for all ages is
provided. Join us in these studies!
This Sunday Calvin celebrates communion. As we prepare to celebrate communion, we ask God for the
proper spirit in which to celebrate the sacrament.
As is tradition, on communion Sundays we urge our members to contribute to the Christian Needs
Ministry.
A Special Offering is designated for Dordt University’s Putting Love Into Action (PLIA). This Spring Break
service opportunity has students working alongside ministries and nonprofits at various locations in the
US. William Ver Mulm will be going on one of the trips.
This Saturday at 10:00 AM there will be Automated External Defibrillator Training at church.
Pastor Brian Hofman is using Matthew 5: 43-48 as his text from the Sermon on the Mount- “Love For
Our Enemies.” The songs of praise will be led by the All For Praise Team. Songs include “This Is Amazing
Grace”, “Oh To See the Dawn”, “Yes He Lives”, “They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love”, and “To
God Be the Glory.” During the distribution of communion, we will sing “How Deep the Father’s Love For
Us.”
An Easter Sunday Breakfast on April 9 will be served at 9 AM. Egg bakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls,
orange juice and coffee will be served. Plan to attend.
Easter lilies ill be used to decorate the sanctuary on Easter. Give your order form and money to Mary
Van Hill by this Sunday.

This Week at Calvin 3/15/23

Calvin Church, 326 7 th St SE, welcomes all who are looking for a church family to worship, learn and
fellowship with us. This is the fourth Sunday of Lent where we focus on the Cross. Lent is a season to
focus on the hope of Jesus Christ. Worship begins at 10:00 AM. Pastor Brian Hofman is leading us in a
series of sermons on The Sermon on the Mount. This Sunday the text is Matthew 5: 38-42, “An Eye For
An Eye.” This Sunday, we celebrate the baptism of Aria Visscher, daughter of Patrick and Kaitlyn
Visscher. Songs of praise include: “Before the Throne of God Above”, “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, “Jesus
Loves Me”, and “Will You Come and Follow Me.” Following baptism Patrick will sing “Be Like You” by
Finding Favor. He will be accompanied by his sister Paige Vander Wilt. The Closing Song will be the
baptism version of “In Christ Alone.”
After the offertory, the children come forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for
Children’s Worship.
Sunday School classes for all ages are available this Sunday at 9:00 am. The Adult Sunday School class is
meeting this week as the watch the 3 nd session of the 23 rd Psalm by Louie Giglio “The Battle of the Mind.”
The Evening Bible study will meet again on March 22nd at 6:30 PM. Laura Grigsby leads Lesson 5 in their
study Twelve More Women of the Bible.
AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Training will be held on Saturday, March 25, at 10:00 AM.

on the Mount. This Sunday the text is Matthew 5: 33-32-37. This Sunday the All For Him Praise Team
will lead the singing of: “Blessed Be Your Name”, “Living Hope”, “Lord, I Need You”, and “Let It Be Said
of Us.” For the offertory the Steve and Kathy Ver Mulm grandchildren will play a special musical
number. Miriam Hector will provide the prelude.
After the offertory, the children come forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for
Children’s Worship.
Sunday School classes for all ages are available this Sunday at 9:00 am. The Adult Sunday School class is
meeting this week to be prayer warriors for our church, community, and country.
The Afternoon Bible study will meet again on March 15th at 1:30 PM. Lynda Bultuis leads Lesson 10
from 2 Corinthians 12 “My Burden Carries Me”.
Our church members will be taught how to use the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on Saturday,
Macrh 25, at 10:00 AM. There is a sign-up sheet on the window ledge in the foyer.

fellowship with us. This is the second Sunday of Lent. Worship begins at 10:00 AM. Pastor Brian
Hofman is leading us in a series of sermons on The Sermon on the Mount. This Sunday the text is
Matthew 5: 31-32. This Sunday, John and Judy Klockseim will be celebrating their 50 th anniversary. We
will sing some of their favorite hymns and songs of praise. They include: “Holy, Holy, Holy”, “It Is Well
With My Soul”, “Amazing Grace (Our Chains are Gone)”, and “Be Thou My Vision.” For the offertory
their granddaughters Olivia, Ava and Ella Klemme will play “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
After the offertory, the children come forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for
Children’s Worship.
Sunday School classes for all ages are available this Sunday at 9:00 am. The Adult Sunday School class is
meeting this week as the watch the 2 nd session of the Lord’s Prayer by Louie Giglio “The Tactics of the
Enemy.”
The Klocksiems will be serving cake following the service.
The Evening Bible study will meet again on March 8th at 6:30 PM. Laura Grigsby leads Lesson 4 in their
study Twelve More Women of the Bible.

continue a DVD with Louie Giglio on “The Tactics of the Enemy” based on Psalm 23.
The Afternoon Bible study will meet again on March 1st at 1:30 PM. Lyn Bulthuis leads this study from 2
Corinthians, Lesson 9 “Super-Leaders.” Discussion, prayer, coffee, and dessert highlight this gathering.
Calvin is looking forward to hosting the March meeting of Heartland Classis on Saturday, March 4 from
8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

and “Bring Forth the Kingdom,” and ”Shine Jesus Shine”, The prelude will be an arrangement of “Shine
Jesus Shine” by Marilyn Ham. For the offertory, Lyn Bulthuis will introduce us to a new song about being
the salt and light in the world titled “Bring Forth the Kingdom. After the offertory, the children come
forward to visit with Pastor Brian and then will be dismissed for Children’s Worship.
