This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church prepares for Advent in the month of December. The Advent series highlights the themes of promise, preparation, joy and hope with a focus on how angels model worship in both the Nativity story and in Revelation. The first candle on the Advent wreath is called the Prophecy Candle. It opens the period that anticipates Christmas and remembers those who first spoke the promise of the coming Christ Child. As Christians we also anticipate the second coming of our Lord and King Jesus Christ, our Savior. Angels behold him face to face and help us to adore him. Alan and Laura Grigsby will be the readers and lighting the first candle of the Advent Wreath.
Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp has chosen Revelation 7 as his text for this Sunday's sermon. Advent songs will be "Praise My Soul, the King of Heaven", "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus", "O Come O Come Emmanuel", and "Here I Am To Worship" accompanied by Miriam Hector on the organ.
Tom & Joyce De Koster will be Greeters, Pete & Mary Attema the Coffee Servers, Dave Hector the Usher, Troy & Elisa Hughes in the nursery, Jeremy Kamp on the Sound System and Power Point.
A representative for the Gideons will be speaking in church on Sunday, December 1st . There will be a special offering received for the Gideons, as well.
