This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church welcomes all who are looking for a church home to visit and make yourself at home. We've been praying for you, and hope you will experience the joy of God's life changing love. Calvin is located at 326 7th St SE, Le Mars.
Education Classes are available for all ages from Pre-school age through Adults at 9:00 AM in the church's basement. Teachers are preparing meaningful, stimulating educational opportunities to promote a growing relationship with Christ.
During worship at 10:15 AM Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp continues preaching on the prophet Hosea. This week's sermon focuses on Hosea 9: 10 - 17 (We are what we worship). Other readings will be 2 Timothy 2: 8 - 15 read by Shirley Chalmers. The Gospel passage Luke 17: 11 - 19 will be read by Pastor DeLapp from the center of the sanctuary to represent Jesus coming down from heaven to minister to and amongst His people. The Gospel Hymn will be a Caribbean traditional chorus "Halle, Halle, Halle".
This Sunday the prelude will be played as a piano/organ duet by Angeli Shieh and Miriam Hector. They will play Bach's First Prelude to lead all into a spirit of worship. The All For Him band will accompany the singing Sunday. The songs include "Arise", "Be Unto Your Name" and "My Life is in You, Lord". For the offertory the band will sing a new song by Phil Wickham called "Living Hope." The band is made up of Bruce Smit on drums, Bob Hughes and Ron DeKok on acoustic guitars, Jim Viet on the electric bass and Miriam Hector on keys. The singers include Jill Bomgaars, Mary Fedders, Steve Ver Mulm and Patrick Vissicher.
Calvin Church has arranged an evening at the Brown's Century Theatre this Friday night to have dinner and see and hear the play Josiah Mullins has created to depict the life of Horatio Spafford and eventually the writing of the famous hymn "It Is Well With My Soul." The buffet dinner begins at 5:30 for those who have planned to attend this great evening.
Women's Ministry has planned a Fall Shop Hop on October 19th. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer to join a fun day of shopping about a dozen store in Alton and Orange City.
Preparations for the Election Night Soup Supper have begun. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 5th. Serving will be from 5 - 7 PM.
Greeters this Sunday will be Pete & Mary Attema, Coffee Servers are Gary & Glenda Habben, Usher is Lynda Bulthuis, Nursery supervised by Karin DeLapp, Sound System and Power Point run by Jeremy Kamp.
Calvin is excited to send Pete and Mary Attema to Romania representing Hope Haven as they deliver wheelchairs to the handicapped. We pray God's riches blessings on them as they travel and be Jesus' hands and feet.
