This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church begins their Education Classes this Sunday, September 22 at 9:00 AM. There are classes from Pre-school age through Adults. Teachers are preparing meaningful, stimulating educational opportunities to promote a growing relationship with Christ. Come and grow in your knowledge of God's Word.
During worship at 10:15 AM Calvin also invites all who are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord in celebration of communion. As is our tradition with communion, all are encouraged to contribute to the Christian Needs Center this Sunday. The September needs are: soup - all kinds; corn, prok & beans, chili beans, tuna, peas diced tomatoes, instant potatoes, rice, juice, jelly,, pancake mix, syrup, toilet paper and shampoo. Please place these items in the blue barrel in the narthex. Dave Hector will deliver them later this week to the Needs Center.
This Sunday our Special Offering is designated for the Sioux City Gospel Mission.
Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp returns to the pulpit to continue his series of sermons on Hosea. His text will be Hosea 5: 13 - 15, 11: 8 - 11, 13: 4 - 14a. The All For Him band and singers will accompany the singing of "Awesome God", "Our God", "We Believe" and "O Worship the King." The Band members will be Bruce Smit on drums, Jim Viet on bass, Bob Hughes and Ron De Kok on acoustic guitar and Miriam Hector on keys. The singers this week are Mary Fedders, Lyn Bulthuis, Steve Ver Mulm and Patrick Visser.
Greeters this week are Tom & Joyce De Koster, coffee servers are Fred & Glenda Vollink, Usher is Dave Hector, Nursery supervised by Karin DeLapp, Sound System by Mike Feestra and Power Point by Jeremy Kamp. We thank all those who serve.
This week Wednesday will be the Evening Bible Study led by Laura Grigsby. She encourages all too read the Lesson 1 ahead of time. This study begins at 6:30 PM in the Church Fellowship Hall near the new metal sign "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God" Matthew 6:33. It was designed the created by Welder's Wife (granddaughter of Vern and Mary Fedders). She has created many beautiful signs with meaningful thoughts and scripture around Calvin's building.
Next week Sunday, September 29th, Calvin members will have a congregational meeting after the morning service for the selection of officers of Elder and Deacon.
