This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church welcomes all who are looking for a church home to visit and make yourself at home. We've been praying for you, and hope you will experience the joy of God's life changing love. Calvin is located at 326 7th St SE, Le Mars. 10:15 AM on Sundays is the time that has been set aside for the public worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
Our Pastor the Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp will continue his sermon series on the Old Testament Book of Hosea. This week is "The Gospel according to Hosea, Part 2: Jezreel". His text will be Hosea 2: 2 - 23. Psalm 50: 1 - 8, 22- 23 will be read responsively by Pastor and the congregation. The Gospel of Luke 12: 32- 40 will be read from the middle of the church to represent Jesus coming among us.
Mandy Viet from Ireton, IA will play the piano for the prelude and offertory. She and the All For Him band will accompany the singing of "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing", "How Great is Our God", "Speak, O Lord", and "Take My Life and Let it Be". Other members of the band will be Mandy's husband, Jim Viet on the electric bass, Ron De Kok and Bob Hughes on acoustic guitars and Bruce Smit on drums. Singers include Mary Fedders, Dave Davelaar and Patrick Hughes.
Other servers this Sunday include Ina Bjorge and June Vos as Coffee Servers, Lyn Bulthuis as Usher, Glenda Habben in the nursery, Bruce Smit on sound and Jeremy Kamp setting up and running the Power Point.
The third Sunday of August, August 18, Calvin will be celebrating communion. As is Calvin's tradition, everyone is encouraged to bring items for the Christian Needs Center in Le Mars. Any non-perishable food item, paper goods, or cleaning supplies are appreciated. Specific items include: corn; park & beans; rice; instant potatoes; juice; jello; pudding canned chicken; toothpaste; and shampoo.
Future plans are for the 2019 Conference, "His Plan..Our Purpose," hosted by Bible League International will be held September 9 & 10 at the First Reformed Church, Sioux Center. Plans to attend the It Is Well play by Josiah Mullins at The Browns Century Theatre are being planned for October 11th. If you are interested in joining Calvin friends call Mary Reed.
