This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church is looking forward to having Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada De Lapp in the pulpit this Sunday at 10:15 a.m. He returns from teaching classes at Dallas Seminary this last week.
This Sunday will also be a special meal served following the service.  We watched a video about Kingdom Boundaries Prison Aftercare (KBPA) last week.  This week two men from the house will be at the dinner, who will give their testimonies.  Dinner will be provided.   Free will offering for KBPA will be taken.  Plan to stay for lunch, conversation and an opportunity to ask questions and hear all about the work of KBPA.  Kingdom Boundaries provides housing for men getting out of the prison in Sioux Falls.  There are 22 houses that can hold 19 men total at one time.
This week Miriam Hector will accompany worship on the grand piano and organ.  Some of the hymns will be "God is Here", " I Stand Amazed" and "Lift High the Cross."  The prelude will be a medley of "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" and "The Old Rugged Cross."  The offertory will be played on the organ.  It is titled "Lamb of Glory."
Scripture readings this week are Hebrews 5: 5 - 10, Psalm 119: 9 - 16, John 12: 20 - 33 and the text for the sermon is from Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14.  The Ten Commandments from Exodus 20 will be read as a response of gratitude to our Assurance of Pardon.
Special servants for this week's service are Greeters - Troy and Elisa Hughes, Coffee servers - Pete and Mary Attema, Usher - Lynda Bulthuis, Nursery - Aimee Postma, the Sound system - Steve Ver Mulm and Power Point - Jeremy Kamp.
Usually we have communion on the third Sunday, however we will have it later this month on Good Friday at 6:30 PM.  However, if you would like to donate to the Christian Needs Center as is our custom on communion you are encouraged to do so.  Their needs this month are: canned tuna/chicken, hamburger/tuna helper, mac & cheese, syrup, and cleaning supplies.  These supplies can be placed in the blue barrel in the narthex.
A table has been donated for several people to attend the Youth for Christ Annual Banquet on March 26th.  Please contact Elaine Van Otterloo for more information.
On Wednesday, March 21st the Afternoon Women's Bible Study will meet at 1:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  They will be studying Lesson 12 from The Sermon on the Mount.
Plans are underway for a traditional Palm Sunday procession of children, young people waving palms as they sing and process into the sanctuary March 25th.  A Good Friday Tenebrae Service at 6:30 PM is being prepared that traces the story of Christ's journey to the cross, his suffering an death.
On Easter morning, April 1st, an Easter Celebration breakfast will be served of egg casserole at 9:00 AM followed by A Service of Word and Song with festive music, the retelling of the resurrection story from the gospels that focuses on hope and victory an concludes with a commission to serve with joy.
