This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church welcomes Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp back to the pulpit this Sunday at 10:15 AM.
His text will be Luke 9: 28 - 36, the Transfiguration of Jesus.  This is Christ's appearance in radiant glory on a mountain to three of his disciples.  Pastor De Lapp will connect this with how his transfiguration anticipates ours. The Song of Response is "Christ, We Climb With You the Mountain."
This Sunday Calvin includes the reading of the Summary of the Law as found in Matthew 22: 34 - 40.  This will be followed by the singing of the hymn "You Shall Love the Lord".  In this service we also include the reciting of the Apostles' Creed.
Miriam Hector will lead all into a spirit of worship with the playing of a Medley "O Worship the King" with a more contemporary version "Worship the King" on the grand piano.   She will also accompany the hymns of "Rejoice the Lord is King", "How Great is Our God" and the songs already mentioned.
Angeli Shieh, a foreign exchange student from Taiwan living with Steve and Kathy Ver Mulm, will play a piano solo for the offertory.  She has learned 'The Lord's Prayer' for this special music.
At 9:00 AM Sunday School Classes are held for all ages in the Fellowship Hall.  Start your day with meaningful educational and discipleship opportunities to promote a growing relationship with Christ.  Coffee is always ready to start us off.
Following the morning worship service a meal will be served in the basement for all who would like join us.  We will also have the privilege of celebrating 110 years of marriage for two couples in our congregation.   Dr. Tom and Ina Bjorge (February 15) and Pete and Mary Attema (February 21) are each celebrating their 55th Anniversary.  They are providing cake to conclude our meal.  Congratulations!
In the month of March Calvin and First Baptist Church are responsible for delivering Meals on Wheels.  Helen De Stigter is organizing the sign-up for Calvin.  We will need one driver for each day.  The sign-up sheet is on the podium in the foyer.  This route does not take very long and is a great way to reach out to our community with warm conversation and love.
On Wednesday afternoon the Women's Bible Study hopes to meet again at 1:30 PM.  They are on the second lesson "What Is the Holy Spirit's Work?"  This study includes a video, discussion and prayer for the needs of our friends and family.  All this is concluded with a yummy dessert and coffee. Calvin Church is located on 4th Ave SE with the new digital sign.  You may also   check us out at the website http://www.calvincrclemars.org.   If you need a ride to worship or any activity, please call the church office and leave a message.  We would be glad to help.
