This Week at Calvin

Part of Calvin Christian Reformed Church's mission is to "minister to each other and our neighbors through caring relationships."  We pray that as each one leaves the education and worship sessions that we will all take the opportunity to reach out to others in meaningful ways.  This Sunday Calvin will lead worship at 3 nursing home facilities;  1:30 at  Good Samaritan Nursing Home, 2:15 at Park Place Estates and 3:00 at Pride One.  Pastor De Lapp provides a meditation based on scripture and Miriam Hector plays the piano for singing of favorite hymns.  Other members join in the group singing making for a joyful worship time.
Calvin is planning a special celebration as they prepare for the 15th Annual Praise Band Fest.  Jill Miller and band, People of Praise from St John's Lutheran and the All For Him band from Calvin are joining in this blessed time to worship God with contemporary Christian music.  It is always an informal gathering praising the Lord with song.  A free-will offering will be taken for the Hope Haven International Wheelchair Ministry.  Jill and several of Calvin's members have traveled to third world countries delivering and fitting handicapped people for these wheelchairs.  What a wonderful ministry!  Come join us for sandwiches, chips, fruit salad and ice cream to follow the music.
This week's worship at 10:15 AM will be led by Miriam Hector playing the prelude on the grand piano.  The All For Him praise band will lead the singing of "Every Giant Will Fall", "Not To Us" and "Who You Say I Am".  Psalm 138 will be read responsively for the Call to Worship then followed by all singing this beautiful Psalm.  Dave Hector will read the Old Testament lesson from Isaiah 6: 1 - 8. Tom De Koster will read 1 Corinthians 15: 1 - 11.  Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp will read Luke 5: 1 - 11.  His sermon of Jesus giving Peter a sense of wonder and awe in God's presence will be based on the Luke 5 passage.
Greeters this week are Tom & Joyce De Koster, Coffee Servers are Fred & Glenda Vollink, Usher is Fred Vollink, Nursery is Cindy De Vos, Sound System and PowerPoint is Jeremy Kamp.
Following the worship service, Calvin will be conducting a Congregational Meeting to approve the proposed budget for the year 2019.
We always love to have new people join the educational opportunities at Calvin.  On Sundays the Sunday School Classes are held at 9:00 AM.   Children, young people and adults and encouraged to join in the study of God's Word.  On Wednesday the Evening Bible Study begins a video/study on the book In The Middle of the Mess (Strength for this Beautiful, Broken Life) written by Sheila Walsh.  This study will be held at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Calvin.  Come and study and  pray with us.
February 20th is Communion Sunday where we traditionally also collect items for the Christian Needs Center.  That Sunday is also a Special Offering designated for Youth for Christ, Plymouth County.
