This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church celebrates Communion this Sunday, January 20th at 10:15 AM.  All who are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord.  As is tradition at Calvin, on Communion Sundays all are invited to donate to the Christian Needs Center.   Their needs this month include 4-pack toilet paper, toothpaste, and syrup.
We continue in the season of Epiphany, a Christian feast that celebrates the revelation of God Incarnate as Jesus Christ.  Mary Fedders will read the Old Testament lesson from Isaiah 62: 1 - 5.  Pastor De Lapp will read Psalm 36: 5 - 10 responsively with the congregation.  Lyn Bulthuis will read the Epistle lesson from 1 Corinthians 12: 1 - 11.  Pastor's text will be John 2: 1 - 11 and read from the center of the congregation to represent Jesus coming down to earth to dwell among us.
Nomi Vos will be the accompanist for this morning.  She will provide a prelude and offertory on the grand piano.  The hymns will be "Here I Am To Worship", "Songs of Thankfulness and Praise", "
Break Thou the Bread of Life" and "God, Who Created Hearts to Love".  Nomi will be playing beautiful piano music during the distribution of elements in the Lord's Supper.
Our Greeters this week are Anna Mai Koerselman and Steve Ver Mulm, Coffee Servers - Pete and Mary Attema, Usher - John Klocksiem, Nursery - Elaine Zomermaand, Sound System - Jeremy Kamp and Power Point - Jeremy Kamp.
Sunday School classes for all ages begins at 9:00 AM in the basement of the church.  Please come and grow in a relationship with Christ.
This week Wednesday is the Evening Women's Bible Study at 6:30 PM.  They are finishing the study Session 6 in "I Am Free" led by Laura Grigsby.
Mark your calendars for the 15th Annual Praise Band Fest.  Calvin is excited to announce the 3 Bands participating this year.  Every year we hear new and different bands that love to sing and worship with contemporary Christian music.  This year we have All For Him from Calvin, People of Praise from St John's Lutheran Church and Jill Miller and band from Sioux City.  This wonderful, informal worship will begin at 5:00 PM on February 17, 2019 at Calvin CRC.  Following the 3 bands leading their favorite songs for about 20 minutes each, we will close with one massed band song.  Then we can fellowship together in the basement with sandwiches, chips, fruit salad and ice cream.  The free-will offering will be given to Hope Haven International Wheelchair Ministry.  Jill Miller and several members of Calvin have blessed others with these chairs to handicapped people in third world countries.  How exciting to see and hear from these individuals of how they were blessed to be able to accommodate handicapped people and change their lives forever!  Please join us February 17th.
Calvin Church is located at the junction of 4th Ave SE and 7th St SE.  Past services can be heard on our website at http://www.calvincrclemars.org.
