This Week at Calvin

We were so thrilled to share the gospel with many area Le Mars people at the 14th Annual Praise Band Fest.  A nice variety of music was sung, played and worshipped with.  The Josh's Ride Charity received $1,543.00 from the free-will offering.  This purchases a medium sized bike for special kiddos in Le Mars.  Thank you to all who participated and gave.  A beautiful time of fellowship was had following the time of worship in the basement of the church.  So heartwarming to see believers coming together to worship our one true God.
This Sunday, February 25 is designated the Global Hymn Sing Sunday by Keith and Kristyn Getty.  Thousands of churches across dozens of countries will join together in singing the missions hymn, "Jesus Shall Reign", as an act of solidarity and focus on global missions. The All For Him praise team will lead the singing of this song originally written by Isaac Watts.  In addition Calvin continues Lenten worship with the singing of "You Are My King (Amazing Love)",  "Spirit of the Living God", and in response to the sermon on money - riches are meaningless "We Give Thee But Thine Own".
The sermon will be based on Ecclesiates 5: 8 - 20.  Other readings are from Psalm 22: 23 - 31, Romans 4: 13 - 25.  The Gospel reading will be from Mark 8" 31 - 38.
Miriam Hector will be the accompanist this morning.  She is preparing a prelude based on "You Are My King" and "Lord I Lift Your Name on High". Other servers will be Pete and Mary Attema - Greeters, Dave Hector - Usher, Mary Luschen - nursery, Sound System - Mike Feenstra, and Powerpoint - Jeremy Kamp.  Our worship services begin at 10:15 a.m.
There are Sunday School classes available for all ages at 9:00.  Pastor Nevada De Lapp has started a new class showing the movie "Godspeed" with a study after each viewing.  Kaitlyn Visscher teaches the elementary children and Jaclyn VerMulm  ministers to the high school aged young people.
During this week on February 28th, the Women's Bible Study led by Gayle Walhof meets at 6:30 PM.  They are studying a book on Prayer written by Gayle.
Calvin Church is located at 326 7th St SE or on the web at calvincrclemars.org for past sermons and more information.  Please join us in our mission of being "A Caring Church, Reaching Community."
