This Week at Calvin

At Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars IA, we are anticipating the celebration of baptism this Sunday, August 19th at 10:15 AM.  Baptism is the sign and seal of God's promises to His covenant people.  In baptism God promises by grace alone; to forgive our sins, to adopt us in to the Body of Christ, the Church, to send the  Holy Spirit daily to renew and cleanse us; and to resurrect us to eternal life.  This promise is made visible in the water of baptism.

The worship service invites the Holy Spirit into our midst with special string music by Robert Jr. and Derek Hwang on their violin and cello.  The All For Him band made up of Bruce Smit, Bob Hughes, Ron De Kok and Miriam Hector will accompany the praise singers of Patrick and Paige Visscher, Steve Ver Mulm and Mary Fedders.  Songs of worship and praise will be "How Great is Our God" with the chorus of "How Great Thou Art", "In Christ Alone", "Creation Sings the Father's Song" and "Go, My Children With My Blessing." Following baptism, Patrick Visscher will sing the solo "Faith, Hope and Love" following baptism.  His sister, Paige Visscher will be accompanying him on the piano.
The sermon is from the Book in the Bible Titus 3: 1 - 11.  The sermon will be focusing on baptism by Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada De Lapp.
The special offering this Sunday will be for The Northern Lighthouse in Nebraska.

Sunday's service assistants will be Greeters John and Judy Klocksiem, Coffee Servers Gary and Glenda Habben, Usher Lynda Bulthuis, Nursery Troy and Elisa Hughes, Sound System Mike Feenstra and Power Point Jeremy Kamp.

Sunday afternoon a well-known contemporary, Christian musician Michael W. Smith will be performing at the Arnolds Park Green Space.  The first band Jacob Daniel and Ten Seven will perform at 4 PM with the main event Michael W. Smith to follow.
