This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church celebrates communion this Sunday, July 15 at 10:15 AM.  All who are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord this morning.  As is Calvin's tradition, we also invite members to contribute to the Christian Needs Center on communion day.  Their needs for July are:  canned vegetables (mostly vegetables, peas or carrots), canned fruit, and bottles of juice.  These items can be placed in the blue barrel in the narthex.  Thank you in advance for helping supply this need.  Dave Hector will deliver them later next week.
This Sunday Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada De Lapp will use Hebrews 12: 3 - 17 as the text for his sermon on God "Disciplining" us in a positive sense; training us for the Christian life - remembering that Jesus is the template.  Other scriptures will be Amos 7: 7 - 15 read by Mary Reed, Psalm 85 read responsively, the Hebrews passage by John Petersen and the Gospel Mark 1:4 - 13 by Pastor De Lapp.
Miriam Hector will lead all into worship with a prelude on "The Power of Your Love" on the grand piano, played along with an orchestral CD.  Other songs to be sung will be "Come Thou Fount", "Lord, You Have Lavished on Your Land,"  "Break Now the Bread of Life", "Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ."
This month Calvin is ministering to each other and our neighbors through caring relationships.  For the month of July we and the First Baptist Church are responsible for delivering Meals on Wheels.  We meet at the lower level of the Convention Center to pick up the meals and deliver them from there.  Also this week Calvin is responsible for nursing home ministry at Good Samaritan (1:30), Park Place Estates (2:15) and Ride Group (3:00).  Please join us for one or all of these outreach opportunities.  Next July 22 we will be at Prime Living (1:30) and Plymouth Manor (2:15).
Please come and join us in worship and service at Calvin.  We are located at the intersection of 4th Ave SE and 7th ST SE, where you see repair done to the support of the cross at the top of our church.  Our services can be heard on the web at calvincrclemars.org.
